The new decision-making process in the European Union, warned by the Commissioner for Enlargement, Johannes Hahn, could cut the path of European integration for Kosovo.
As the Serbian newspaper “Vecernje Novosti” writes, the mechanism, under which, in spite of certain steps towards full membership in the European Union, will not be necessary for the consensus of all Union members, can be used by specific states to speed up Kosovo's European path, despite the position of countries that have not recognised its independence, Telegrafi submits.
The paper, however, commemorates that, however, EU membership will remain the condition, which all member states' reconciliation is needed for that.
However, the new rules could be used so that Kosovo can advance towards the EU, despite the position of five states that have not recognised it.
Decisions for specific concessions to Kosovo can be made without the consent of states that do not recognise Kosovo.
