Federal Attorney General Peter Frank wants to probe more strongly into the supporters of the terrorist organisation “The Islamic State” (IS). However, this in most cases is difficult because women often marry IS fighters, give birth to children and educate them in the spirit of IS ideology, but do not take active activities or serve under weapons.
In the case of Jennifer W, investigators managed to find evidence that between September 2014 and early 2016, he had served the IS in Iraq as a “moral police officer”. In the evenings she patrolled in the city parks of Fallujah and Mosul, and checked whether other women respected the rules of conduct and clothing imposed by terrorist militia. That's why she made between $70 and $100 a month.
Two and a half years ago, the Islamists were arrested by Turkish security forces after a visit to the German Embassy in Ankara and extradited to Germany. It has been intended to return to territories occupied by the IS. The 27-year-old has been in custody since Saturday.
Of the 1,000 new cases of federal Prosecution investigations launched in 2017, 24 dealt with women suspected of links to Islamic terrorist organisations. During 2018, more than 20 new investigations into women involved in such activities have been launched.
