Trump has decided to forgive the 63-year-old prison sentence Johnson, who had ended up in prison for a drug-related criminal offence but without being involved in violent acts.
In 1996, Johnson was convicted of 8 counts involving a Memphis-based cocaine trafficking operation. According to reports, her contacts with drug traffickers occurred after Alice had lost her job, had killed her son, had been divorced by her husband and had taken her home because she was unable to pay the loan.
The White House reported that Johnson had been a model prisoner and had worked hard for her rehabilitation. Crushed by emotion, Alice, whose good news Kim chose to deliver personally, said she felt as if she had returned from death to live again.
