Doctors of Abdominal, Plastic and Child Surgery at QKUK have entered a day-long strike demanding higher salaries.
QKUK surgeons have returned today to demands for salary growth through a one-day strike. Doctors have not worked in professional ambulances, as well as failed to perform electronic operations. Doctors' violence against each other, as did the clash between Gashi and Sejdiu.
Dr. Bedri Braha, abdominal surgeon, says they have warned Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, Health Minister, Uran Ismaili and USKUK Director Dr. Basri Sejdiu. He has added that this strike is only a warning for June 18th, when it will continue longer until the requirements are met.
Our aim is awareness of the opinion of the denigration wages we receive. There's also an unfair cofficient of 2.7 where a morgue manager who opens the door has 2.6. Even the current ranking does not present us directly to the years of schooling and the sacrifice we have at our place of work, as well as the risk of the large volume”, claims Braha.
The surgeons have gone on strike for several days even at the beginning of this year with the same requirements for salary increases, job risk payments, and student mentoring. Braha claims these requirements have not been met, although the promise has been to be fulfilled in June. He says Minister Ismaili has expressed willingness to help, but according to Brashe, he has done nothing more.
QKUK Workers Union Chairman Xhemajl Selmani has said the strike is not organised by the union, but the US Council requirements are fair and support them. “Of course, any request for the welfare of medical personnel we support”, he said.
Selmani has declared that the director of the USKKUK and the minister had promised the Federation of Unions that the salary hike would be done with the revision of the budget in June. He says if this does not happen then they will take union action. On the other hand, the Office of the USKKKU Director says that working groups are working on reviewing the Law of Salaries, where the cofficiency for health workers is expected to be changed.
