Moscow is carefully following NATO exercises near its borders and has taken all necessary security measures, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today, in case of military exercises being held in the Baltic region.

In Poland and the Baltic countries yesterday, the military exercises of the east wing of NATO, in which some 18,000 soldiers from 19 countries are participating, mainly members of the North Atlantic Alliance.
The US is in charge of the multinational NATO battalion in Poland, until Canada, Great Britain and Germany are at the helm of similar battalions deployed in Baltic countries, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, where maneuvers are being held, Kosovo Press broadcasts.
This is the largest number of soldiers in maneuvers since the end of the Cold War and aims to encourage the US Allied European countries in the east, who are concerned because of frequent Russian maneuvers near their borders and because of the conflict in Ukraine.
Annual Saber strip exercises are organised for the eighth time and are held until 15 June.
They are being held at the moment when Poland warned to be a permanent host of American contingent troops, just as Germany had acted after World War II.
