Minister PDK says it will take away property from corrupt politicians

Through a status on the social network Facebook, Minister Abelard Tahiri has voiced conviction that the corrupt persons' property seizure bill will make the country progress, writes Periscope.

But Tahiri is part of the PDK, a party with a clearly corrupt operation scheme. This bill can be truly good, as Tahir puts it, but what will be lacking as always is its endurance. Even in the 2017 Progress Report, Kosovo's most problematic point was its law enforcement.

For the minister, this bill will directly hit criminal activities, which for them are the real obstacle to the country's progress. But, so far, Tahiri has done nothing to clear the judiciary of political influence, in particular the party it belongs to.

“Being aware of the enormous burden of responsibility I exercise, cannot remain indifferent to the essential need to review and advance the existing policy of confiscating property acquired by criminal work, to completely new, more functional and more efficient standards. Because along with the changes made in the Republic of Kosovo's draft Penal Code, it is equally important to achieve the improvement of the results in the fight against corruption, organised crime and other negative phenomena, through the seizure of property of persons who have an unjustified economic level, as a result of alleged criminal activity, whether from political and public positions won by corruption, organised crime and misuse of the official task of other acts, or from private business activity of illegal money laundering, narcotics, trafficking in its forms, much parallel to bringing them justice and law enforcement. I am convinced that this bill represents deep reform in the segment of the seizure of illegally acquired property and is at the same time a direct blow to criminal activities which for a long time are real obstacles to the country's progress. These days, I would propose to the Government the adoption of the new Bill for Expanded Compensations on the Confiscating of Riches, and this process would be key to establishing the most advanced concept of seizure, whose implementation will eventually take place in our”
