Infrastructure Minister Pal Lekaj accused the past Kosovo government of fined 53 million in the case of the highway connecting Kosovo and Macedonia.
Lekaj at a press conference has explained today the process that led to the payment of a 53.1m-euro sentence for the company “Bechtel- Enka” about delays in the construction of the Pristina- Hani highway of Elez.
“The ministry and government have information needed to assess contractual risks for layoffs and the impact of arbitrage for foreign investment”, said Minister Lekaj
When we came to this ministry we were facing a payment of over 60m euros, but we lowered it to 53m”, he added.
Lekaj has accused the past government led by Isa Mustafa and Infrastructure Minister in that government Lutfi Zharku, of mismanaging the budget by re-launching the money destined for this highway to smaller projects, which he said was the main goal of having the vote.
The money has been re-located into 260 municipal and rural projects... The former minister has been unwilling to address this issue caused by his own guilt”, Lekaj said.
