Kosovo and Serbia are waging fierce pro and anti-membership battles in INTERPOL. Deputy Prime Minister Enver Hoxhaj has voiced confidence that membership in the largest international police organisation will take place this year, while Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic has declared that his state will do its best to prevent this initiative.
A year after failing to become part of INTERPOL, the largest international police organisation, Kosovo is aiming to eventually become part of it this year. Enver Hoxhaj, Kosovo deputy prime minister, has indicated determined that during 2018 Kosovo will become part of INTERPOL.
In a conversation to “Zerin”, he has confirmed that the Government has confirmed by a large number of countries that will support Kosovo in its INTERPOL application.
On the other hand, Serbia's government has been mobilised to prevent Kosovo's membership in this international organisation.
Serbia's Minister of Internal Affairs, Nebojsa Stefanovic, has said days before that Kosovo's potential membership in INTERPOL would be totally unacceptable to the Serbian state and the government in Serbia would do everything possible to stop this initiative.
