Although he has acknowledged that we are helping families around the world to get out of extreme poverty, and the world is improving in eliminating diseases such as polio and malaria, Gates says it is one aspect where the world is not marking enough progress - the pandemic's readiness.
Gates has presented a simulation by the Institute for Disease Model, which has discovered that a flu similar to what had killed 50 million people in 1918 may appear over the next decade and could kill 30 million people within six months.
Even Melinda Gates, Bill's wife, has said that the threat of a global disease, whether artificially or naturally, could be the greatest danger for mankind.
