Bugedir (28) was originally sentenced to six months in prison for illegal entry into the country, but the court stiffened the sentence after finding new facts, including pictures of her husband, French, with extremists from Islam State.
She was arrested last month in Mosul and brought to trial with the two-year-old daughter, and had three lawyers, broadcast Kosovas Press.
France's Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Yves Drian said last week that Bugedir had fought in Mosul as <x0-> state terrorism Islam” against Iraqi entities, and that is why she is being tried in Iraq.
His statement provoked the ire of French lawyers who criticised Le Drian for violating the assumption of innocence.
Otherwise, the accused side has the right to appeal to the decision.
