The Turkish people have mandated me as president, according to unofficial results”, Erdogan has declared.
“I hope no one will harm democracy by opposing this election and their results to hide their” failure, he said, reports the prestigious British daily The Guardian.
Erdogan is leading 52.79 per cent of the vote, after counting 98.68 per cent of the vote.
Second place is Muharrem Incre, who has secured 30.79 percent of the vote.
The third is Selahatttin Demirtash é, currently in prison with 8.03 percent of the vote, reports the popular Turkish newspaper Habertürk.
However, Turkey's opposition party, CHP, insists that not all ballots have yet been counted, and that when they are counted, its candidate, Ince, will lead the country to the runoff next month.
