The test, known as liquid biopsy, controls the DNA for cancer cells and serves to distinguish 10 different types of cancer with high precision.

Dr. Eric Klein, from the Anti-x0-Taussing” Institute on Cancer, at Cleveland Clinic, U.S.A., has directed scientific research that was presented at the annual conference of the American Oncological Clinics in Chicago, the largest gathering of oncologists from around the world.

Most cancer species are discovered in advanced stages, when treatment is more complex, and the percentage of those cured is smaller, says the conference brochure.

Blood DNA analysis is not yet ready to be used extensively, but this test would enable the difference between many types of cancer in early stages, before symptoms begin, when treatment is most likely to succeed. These types of tests can be implemented universally.

Pre-distinguishing cancer, before spreading, is one of the most powerful ways to ensure proper treatment for more people, giving them the most likely chance to defeat the disease”, says Fiona Osgun of British Cancer Research, which has not been part of the study.

The search was done with 1627 participants, 749 of whom were cancer-free, 878 had different brands of newly diagnosed cancer untreated.

Blood tests consisted of three tests showing cancer of pancreatics, ovaries, lungs, esophagus, and so forth.

ovaries cancer was diagnosed with 90% accuracy, followed by hepatobilari, a very deadly cancer that attacks liver and fever, as well as pancreatic cancer, with 80% accuracy.

The test is especially promising for its high sensitivity to pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer is usually diagnosed when it has progressed greatly, says Dr. Chris Abbosh, researcher at the Cancer Institute at London University.

However, it is important to note that the number of people in whom this type of cancer was detected is small.

Only 10 cases were identified for ovaries and pancreatic cancer. And only five were found with hepatobilial cancer.

The types of cancer facing head, neck and lungs were detected with less accuracy, 56% and 59%, respectively.

But the results are promising. The ability to detect cancer in early stages so that patients are offered accurate treatment of disease is expected to save many lives, according to Dr. Nickolas Papadopoulos, professor of oncology and pathology at John Hopkins Medicine, as well as author of a study of blood tests for early identification of cancer.

For many of the common cancers, survival is tripled when diagnosed in early stages, according to Britain's Cancer Research Institute.

Much work remains to be done before widely used.

Much research is still needed before this goal is achieved. This blood test was better than others to detect certain types of cancer, so we need further evidence of accuracy as well as to determine whether it will really save a life of”, said Osgun.

Gerhardt Attard, director of London University's Institute of Cancer Research, believes that this may soon become a common method of detecting cancer.

This is going too fast. I think that in the next five to 10 years, if this continues to work, we can see it in everyday use”, Attard said.

But Abosh has some warnings about the search.

To abide by the promise to do cancer tests, this test should have the ability to identify patients who will have symptoms or signs of cancer. It will be important to determine how useful this test is to identify early stages of cancer. In the first phase of the disease, surgical interventions are more likely to remove all cancer from the patient and give full recovery. But this data is not yet tangible”, Abosh said, follows the TCh.

Dr. H. Gilber Welch, medical professor at the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice, said in a previous CNN news that the analysis of these tests is very complicated.

The liquid biopsia has many phases, many steps, and most likely things go wrong”, he said.
