European Union Delegation to Serbia chief Sam Fabrizi has declared Kosovo to be the key element for Serbia's EU membership.
“Normising relations with Pristina and progress in the area of democracy and rule of law are the two main drivers for Serbia's EU entry. Of course, Kosovo is the key element”, Fabrizi said in an interview for the Serbian daily “Blic”, which will be published on Sunday, broadcast Koha.net.
He has said that the EU has made clear how important this is and that it is offering “good services” in the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
Asked whether Serbia would have to say Kosovo's “but” independence, he has said the EU has neutral access to status and that full normalisation of reports between the two countries is needed in the form of a legally binding agreement.
“Through dialogue, the EU brings good services to achieve by this goal”, he added.
Fabrizi has added that the format of dialogue will not change and that even further EU High Representative Federica Moghrini will be involved.
