Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafaj says he takes over to resign from this post, in case the audio hearing published by the Democratic Party for his brother results in truth. But according to what Xhafaj believes, this is unlikely to happen. On the contrary. He warns that Democrat leader Lulzim Basha will face the law.
Through a post on the social Twitter network, the interior minister makes a pledge to the citizens that tomorrow (Saturday) will appear in the protest warned by the opposition): If the audio wiretapping made public by the DP, it will result in truth, I will take every moral, political and legal responsibility, including leaving the office of the interior minister. I'm willing to do this without hesitation.
The Democratic Party published an audio tape in which it claims minister's brother, Agron Xhafaj, talks to a drug dealer, later identified as Albert Veliu. Agron Xhafaj is currently in Italy, where he handed himself over to authorities there after the DP published a decision on the formal form of the Italian court that sentenced him to 7 years and 2 months in prison for drug trafficking. Audio surveillance has been sent for expertise in Italy, to verify whether the voice is actually the brother of the interior minister.
Minister Xhafaj's Twitter reaction
Truth is just one, and only one in this case. He who is not on the side of the truth must answer. The legitimate interest of citizens requires this. ♪ Towards the end
If proven otherwise, then Lulzim Basha must resign and face the law. Ask him: Is he ready for this challenge?
To fellow citizens who were summoned to protest, I tell them today: If the audio wiretapping made public by the DP, it will result in truth, I will take every moral, political and legal responsibility, including leaving the office of the interior minister. I'm willing to do this without hesitation.
