US President Donald Trump has warned Iran of “major problems” if it resumes the nuclear programme agreed to contain, in an international 2015 agreement.
Speaking at the White House with French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump called Iran's “mad” agreement.
The French president himself, who is lobbiing near Trump to preserve the deal, said it was possible to create a new agreement with Iran.
The US president is threatening to reject an extension of the Obama-era nuclear pact, with a deadline of 12 May.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit the US capital on Friday to make a last-minute effort to stop Trump off the road to end the deal with Iran.
