The State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) has confirmed this news that had previously emerged from the research that had been conducted by the show “Rundschau” of Switzerland's public broadcaster, SRF.
SEM has informed the media that some 3,200 cases of cited status are under consideration, and the first letters in the addresses of E-Responds have already been sent.
The SEM's move is based on a decision by the Federal Administrative Court, which was taken last summer. That decision viewed the return of refugees to Eritrea as a generally acceptable “action.
However, Switzerland is currently unable to violently return Eritrean migrants to its native country, since there are no relevant entry agreements with this African country.
Right parties have welcomed this change of stand by authorities, calling it “realyst”, while leftist parties have called it “responsible”, transeton albinfo.ch.
The media report that by 2015, Justice and Police Minister Simonette Sommaruga, whose resort even houses, had considered the return of refugees to Eritrea unthinkable.
Over the past few years, there have been several controversial reports of improvements in the security situation in the eastern African country.
