Vetevendosje Movement Chairman Albin Kurti has remembered the battle of Kosare, where thousands of soldiers participated, and has said they have given their lives for freedom.
“Today we proudly remember the Battle of Kosare, which began on April 9th 1999. This battle began when the 138 Brigade under the command of hero Agim Ramadani attacked the Yugoslav regime's army, entering Kosovo's territory from Albania. Thousands of soldiers from all Albanian lands participated in that battle, and over 100 of whom were killed by giving their lives for the freedom of the nation”, Kurti wrote on Facebook.
On the other hand, it has said that Kostare's battle is the first moment when the KLA broke the border between Albania and Kosovo, which has been violently located since Serbia invaded Kosovo in 1913. KLA forces attacked in response to the cruel terror and cleansing that Serbia had begun to do in Kosovo. Our heroic rescuers were supported by the Albanian Army as well as by NATO forces.
We humble ourselves with deep respect for the glorious memory of the martyrs and heroes of the nation who fell into Kostunica but also the veterans of this battle. The KLA is the foundation of our freedom. Every nationly step we take without remembering the liberation war is an uncertain step”, Kurti has finished.
