Why the number 13 is considered so unfortunate by historians

People avoid marriage on this date, travel is less, even on business days. But what is so unfortunate about the number 13, and how did this number of superstition begin?
The early myth about the origin of fear is included in one of the world's oldest legal documents, the Code of Hammurabi, in which 13 of the legal rules list is reportedly lacking.
But in fact, putting out this law was nothing more than a clerical mistake made by one of the earliest translators of the document that did not include a text line.
Mathematicians and scientists, meanwhile, point to the number 12, often considered the number of perfection in the ancient world. Ancient Sumers developed the numeral system based on the use of 12, which is still used to measure and today: Calendars with 12 months, half the day by 12 hours, etc.
Fear of number 13 also appears in some popular theories, both involving the 13th guest at events in antiquity.
It also seems that the inexplicable fear surrounding the number 13 is a largely western construction.
Some cultures, including the ancient Egyptians, view it as a lucky number, while others avoid other numbers, such as Asia, 4 avoid.
According to the North Carolina Stress Management Centre, more than 80% of U.S. high buildings do not have the 13th floor, and likewise hotels, hospitals and airports avoid using room number 13.

According to “Huffington Post”, former US President Franklin D. Roosevelt was one of those who believed most in Friday's goddamn card. He refused any reception where 13 were invited and also never traveled on the 13th.
