Albanian political parties in Montenegro, known for numerous tragedies, have agreed this time that their vote will go to Milo Djukanovic in Sunday's presidential election.
The only Albanian MP in the Montenegrin Parliament, Genc Nimanbegu, who is also deputy speaker of parliament, says the orientation of Albanian politics has also been to vote for Milo Djukanoviqi.
Their “message was clear to support Djukanoviqi, this message came after we have made the decision to support whom we will support”, says Nimanbegu, deputy speaker of the Parliament in Montenegro.
On the same line is the chairman of the Ulcinj municipality, Nazif Cung, who is also the leader of the Force Party.
“In view of NATO entry, Kosovo's independence, Montenegro's independence, we want these achievements to go even further, as we as Albanians in Montenegro will have an even better position”, says Cung, reports TopChannel.
While the chairman of the Albanian Democratic Union Party, Mehmed Zenka, who holds the post of Human and Minority Rights Minister in the Montenegrin government, says that the vote for Djukanovic is vital for Albanians and the entire region after the other pro-Serbian candidate has openly said he could review Montenegro's independence referendum and return after the many achievements that have been made so far.
The “Albanians in Montenegro have only two choices, there is no middle choice. Either the Serbian wing, or the pro-European wing, which Djukanovii represents”, Zenka says.
Even the leader of the Albanian Democratic Party in Montenegro, Fatmir Geka, says there is no doubt that Albanians' votes will go to Milo Djukanovic.
We have many reasons, citing the war in Kosovo, then recognising Kosovo, the good relations it has with Albania”, says Geka.
But citizens seem determined that their vote should go to Djukanovic.
“will vote for Djukanovic as he is the chairman of Montenegro and no other”, one citizen says.
“Probably the former prime minister has the greatest chance of”, says another citizen.
