The communiqué reportedly met Ahmeti's resignation with disappointment, thanking him for his contributions and victories, but also waiting for him as Pristina chairman to fulfill the electoral promises during 2013 and 2017, writes Periscopi.

The VV has considered it unfair to be in opposition in those municipalities where it took the citizens' trust to govern, such as the Kamenica municipality and now the Pristina municipality.

It also says, that despite his victories, Shpend Ahmeti has received more than he has given, saying he has accepted this several times in his public speeches.

Vetevendosje's full response:

On Shpend Ahmeti's Resign from Movement

We agreed, not without disappointment, the resignation of our organisation of Pristina Mayor Shpend Ahmeti.

We thank Shpend Ahmeti for the contributions to our victories, and of course we expect from him nothing less than the fulfillment of the promises he has made on behalf of the Movement in 2013, but also in 2017. The Movement's support, we believe, has been felt in all political battles, but also in the Communist Assembly, as well as by activists engaged in difficult and high-risk management, but also in the campaign, where hundreds of volunteers, MPs, leadership members and public figures are committed to providing support to Shpend Ahmeti in every village and every neighbourhood.

Unfortunately, the Shpend has chosen, however, to side with those who for over a year and a half work within the Movement, against Movement, who in the largest wave of campaign and run-off commitments spent their time at behind-the-back informal meetings, dealing with divisive rumors and waiting for elections to take place to resign.

Shpend Ahmeti has been one of the most respected figures from the Movement, and a major contributor to some good electoral results. But, like all of us, he has gained more from the Movement than he has given the Movement, stating it himself, not a few public talks.

Shpend Ahmeti has had every possibility of any concern of his own or even specific request being brought into the bodies of the Movement, the Headship and the General Council. He has consistently enjoyed understanding and support for his demands, or for any doubt in his purposes and methods, as he is saying only now, through the media. However, he has missed more than attending the leadership meetings that were held after local elections, pointing to the Movement as a lower interest than before winning the second mandate. Adopting privileges by distance from commitment is an extremely short-term appetite with short - term benefits.

Sacrifices, hard work by activists and volunteers, and the budget earmarked for local elections in Pristina has not been to have the mayor only 100 days, but for four years. Now unjustly, the Movement will be in opposition where we actually won. This is an unusual and unfair situation for voters, supporters and activists of the Movement.

However, we know that the Movement has passed greater challenges than this, and together with the support of citizens Movement will lead the necessary and long-awaited changes in Kosovo. The shocks on the Movement do not help Kosovo, but do not even deter Movement from confronting the regime. We ride on challenges. And we win. And we will win.
