NATO's “Files are open to every European state, which takes over the dedication and obligations of membership and contributes to the security of the Euro-Atlantic zone”, the alliance has announced.
“-currently, four partner states have declared their aspirations for membership in NATO, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Macedonia and Ukraine”, the statement said.
These states have also officially shown their interest in NATO membership, so they have been invited to co-operate in accelerating dialogue with the alliance regarding relevant reforms so that they can be part of NATO, writes Rtv21. tv
The next step for eventual membership includes participation in “The Action Plan for Membership” (MAP), which highlights obligations and commitment to future membership. The Ukrainian Parliament has adopted a law last year through which NATO integration is considered a priority for the country's foreign policy. Currently, Ukraine is involved in war with pro-sectors in the country's east.
The fighting between Kiev forces and separatists has killed more than 10,000 and 300 people since April 2014. Ukraine's approach with NATO will undoubtedly anger Moscow, which does not see the expansion of the North Atlantic Alliance to its borders.
