PAmerican resident Donald Trump has significantly softened the tone today for the business policy issue, promising flexibility and co-operation with true US friends in imposing taxes on steel and aluminum imports.
“We need to protect and build our steel and aluminum industries, while simultaneously showing a flexibility and cooperation with those who are true friends and treat us equally both in trade and in defence”, the American president writes in a message published in “Titter”, stressing he will meet with sector responsibilities at the White House today.
Trump had declared his goal a week earlier to impose a 25% tax on steel import and 10% on aluminum, restoring the idea of trade war between the US and many of its commercial allies starting in Canada, which is the first trade partner and the first steel supplier. / A T S/
