Russia said it successfully tested a supersonic missile, one of a series of weapons that could transport nuclear warheads and was announced early in the month by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Russian Defence Ministry published film footage featuring the rocket to be launched by a fighter plane and leaves behind a round of smoke, broadcasts the TCH.
According to Russian authorities, the missile accurately struck the target. On March 1st, Putin himself described this rocket, known as Kinzhal, as an ideal weapon and part of an invincible arsenal. Kinzhal, or knife, is reported to be flying 10 times faster than the sound, and there is a 2 000-mile radius of action.
According to the Russian ministry, the missile was launched by an MIG-31 and this shows its authenticity, as it can use various aircraft launch platforms. The successful test of the missile is part of President Putin's election campaign for the March 18th elections, which analysts say will not have any doubts about winning it.
