On March 11th 1981, the first student demonstration of the University of Pristina began to be followed by popular protests and demonstrations across Kosovo with the basic requirement for advancing Kosovo's political status at the level of the Republic. From 1981 to 1999, there has never been any resistance to Kosovo's freedom and independence, with various forms, from peaceful to armed Kosovo Liberation Army.
