Trump wrote on Twitter that “advances have been achieved”. However, sanctions against North Korea must remain in force until a Korean peninsula deregulation agreement is signed.
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has indicated on Friday that Trump agreed to the meeting with Kim Jong Un, because Kim has changed position dramatically and showed a desire to meet.
Earlier South Korean security adviser Chung Eui Jong had announced in Washington that Kim invited the American president and he accepted the offer.
The meeting is expected to take place by May.
The conflict for the atomic global programme escalated last year to mutual threats of war between the US and North Korea. The coral army tested atomic missiles and an atom bomb several times in early September, violating several Security Council resolutions.
By the beginning of this year, both sides try to get closer. North Korea's participation in the Winter Olympics was an important sign of depression.
