First measures taken at Podujevo to prevent flooding by the Llap River

At the extraordinary Assembly of the Parliament, which was chaired by Fatmir Gashi, attended by the municipality's deputy chairman, Nexmi Rudari and members of the municipality's executive, has been debated over the activities undertaken, the situation created and the consequences caused by last week's floods on the Podujevo municipality's territory.
In the quality of the head of the LVV Council group, and as the initiative for calling out for an extraordinary meeting, Fitim Haziri presented the arguments and the need for debate over recent flooding.
Councilman Haziri counted some of the most flood-hit areas, proposing measures that must be taken and the need to increase the municipal budget for continuing to expand and clean up river beds.
Meanwhile, Public Services Directorate Director Faik Muciqi presented the information on recent flooding, saying that the municipal emergency team and the contracted company for machine intervention have been on the field to intervene where it could be exiled, in preventing the consequences of the floods and the eventual evacuation of citizens.
Director Muciqi said that despite investments that have been made in expanding and cleaning up much of the riverbeds, the floods have been inevitable because of the huge volume of water, as a result of the sudden melting of snow passed by rainfall.
“Crahas investments made over the past few years in expanding and cleaning river beds and building bridges, the municipality has planned a budget of 280 thousand euros this year, for expanding a segment of the Llap River and the Dumnica”, said director Muciqi.
He made it known that the municipal commission for the assessment of the damages caused by the floods is in the field and is making a record of damages, and asked the advisers to contribute in this direction as well by co-operating with the commission.
Commenting on the issue, the councillors identified areas and locations that were the most intangible during these floods and proposed measures and actions that should be taken priorityly in cutting off risk from floods.
