The reduction of the official holidays was the idea of starting the completion-changing work of the Official Festival Law. But the requirements seem to be different.
On June 24th, the Balkan Egyptian Day” is marked. And with the start of changing the Law, this community in Kosovo is calling for the introduction of this day on the calendar of state holidays, KTV reports.
That requirement on the labour commission is officially submitted, MP Veton Berisha. He is convinced that this proposal will be approved, even though changing this law requires at least 2/3 of double votes.
In the commission that began operating in February this year, the Vetevendosje Movement has also demanded that “28 November” be a state holiday.
Long ago, it was required that Europe's “Day”, celebrated on May 9th, which is a state holiday in Kosovo, be removed from this calendar. This idea is supported by Vetevendosje, which believes that there is no reason for this day to be an official holiday, at least not until Kosovo membership in the European Union.
Meanwhile, KTV finds that the Serb community and some others have demanded that their national holidays be part of the holiday calendar. But, Government spokeswoman Donjet Gashi has told television that they have not officially received any requests from the Public Administration Ministry concerning official holidays.
