Before numerous attendees, Haradinaj said today's event is a description of the real situation in Kosovo, and today's findings can prove where the energy sector is and what is happening to energy in Kosovo.

The prime minister said the government he leads has a priority on energy, because, as he said, the energy supply is dedicated to citizens, the economy, but also the stability of the country, security.

Our commitments to addressing energy sector challenges I think we have given a stamp three months ago, on December 20th of last year, when we have signed the commercial agreement on building the Requentine-Rex1> thermal power plant, Prime Minister Haradinaj said, adding that the new technology, which will be installed, improves the state from environmental pollution, as the country will no longer depend on a very old technology, that of <x2Kosovo A<56>

Given that coal is not the source of cleaner energy, however Prime Minister Haradinaj said that in the case of Kosovo, which has an economy in a late stage of development, lack of economic development and lack of electricity, coal is a real solution that responds to a specific situation like the Kosovo case.

In this case, the prime minister asked for support from international partners, the World Bank, The EBRD and other monetary institutions.

Furthermore, Haradinaj described as disturbing the regulation of relations on the energy market, stressing that an unconfirmed relationship between KOST and Serbia's transmission is causing consequences not only for us, for our market, but for the entire European market.

Prime Minister Haradinaj said he does not feel well with the situation created, but promised that the Kosovo government would take any possible action to overcome the situation.

Thanks to the German Government's help through the Berlin process, but also the Secretariat for negotiating between Kosovo and Serbia, Prime Minister Haradinaj said this topic is urgent to be resolved.

We know and feel the obligation and responsibility we have on generations to be guided and focused on renewable energy. Kosovo is well aware that, if there is a people, a country and an economy that understands the importance of renewable energy, first comes that country that is based on coal and we know the difference. No one is more alarmed than we are. We have given priority to alternative energy, thus renewable. We have both opened the market for wind energy and solar energy, welcomed new developments and proposals for access to solar energy, at a larger capacity and openness for all ideas for renewable energy”, Prime Minister Haradinaj said.

The prime minister said no one should have a dilemma if Kosovo is economically stable, citing the advantages it has as a country, the newest population, the almost finished road infrastructure, and in very advanced steps the railway infrastructure, then energy, minerals, food industry and strategic position in the Balkan economy.

While, Minister of Economic Development Valdrin Luka said the “New Kosovo “project will eventually enable the operation of the outdated “thermal power plant Kosovo A” and will offer Kosovo's next generation a secure and sustainable power supply through the new generation of clean technology from coal.

Attending this forum were US Ambassador to Kosovo Greg Delawi, Germany's ambassador to Kosovo, Christian Heldt, political, economic and European integration leaders, the EU Office in Kosovo, Riccardo Serry, World Bank Country Manager for Kosovo Marco Mantovanelli, Deputy Director and Legal Advisor of the Energy Community Secretariat, Dirk Buschle.
