CIA Director Mike Pompeo has defended Donald Trump's decision to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, saying the American president is aware of the risks.
“Trump is doing nothing for theatre. He's going to go there to solve a body problem”, the chief of the US spy agency for Fox News said today.
President Trump has said that the summit could reach the world's largest accord”.
But critics say if the talks are poor, then both states will be placed in a worse position than before.
Pompeo said the administration has “open its eyes” to the challenge of dealing with North Korea.
He said North Korea will accept the meeting for talks, as US-led sanctions have destroyed this communist country's economy.
