British officials are negotiating with US and European allies to co-ordinate over revenge measures which could be implemented if it proves Moscow is behind the poisoning of former Russian officer Segei Scripal and his daughter, Yulia, in Salisbury, have reported British media.
The Times newspaper has said countermass can include everything, starting in the boycott of the World Cup football championship to be held in Russia, until the increase in the number of NATO troops, located on the eastern side of the military alliance.
Multiple options are being discussed”, a British official was quoted as saying.
The investigation into Scripal and his daughter's attempted murder is now on the seventh day.
Officials have said that both are “in critical but more stable”, at a hospital in Salisbury, after being exposed to a nervous agent.
The Times has said revenge could include cancelling the participation of politicians in the World Cup organisation, scheduled for 14 June through 15 July.
The teams of other countries that are qualified for this event, such as Poland, Australia, and Japan, may be invited to join these measures, officials have told the newspaper.
They have also said other measures could include adding NATO seals to Eastern Europe.
About 4,000 troops have been engaged in the eastern side of the alliance to secure the region's allies, who are concerned by Moscow's aggressive foreign policy movements.

At the same time, the British government has held another high security meeting on March 10th to discuss the attack with nervous agents.
British Secretary for Internal Affairs Amber Rudd said after the meeting it is still a very early “to say who was behind the attack, which is considered attempted murder.
British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has said Britain could increase sanctions against Russia if it finds Moscow has been involved.
The Kremlin has rejected any involvement, naming British media reports as anti-Russian hysteria.
On March 10th, BBC reported that investigators found traces of the nervous agent at a restaurant where Scripal and his daughter ate before they got sick.
Other people who have been eating in a restaurant at the same time are not believed to be in danger, said among other things in the BBC report.
