Bad signs of trade fighting between the EU and the United States?

Shortly before President Trump deploys punitive customs for steel and aluminum to protect American firms, turning signs are being given at the White House by the end of this week. Trump's economic adviser, Peter Navarro, has told Fox Business television that the new regulation will have exceptions for Canada and Mexico. These countries would thus have time for concessions in the Free Trade Agreement NAFTA, U.S.A.
While other allies, as it has become known, EU countries or NATO partners will not be expelled initially. But Navarro hinted, for other countries too, there will be a chance to avoid customs in the future.
We will open this for our partners, and we will see whether we can solve this problem or not.” White House spokeswoman Sarah Saunders has indicated that it's 25% customs for steel and 10% for aluminum. Some republican leaders reject customs, Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell, have expressed opposition to customs, but concrete measures against imports from China.
EU to retaliate
Concerns about a trade struggle between the US and the EU have already increased in the economy's world, but also China. The European Union has indicated it will react immediately in such a case. EU Economic Commissioner Pierre Moscovic has indicated that the EU will respond immediately. “If President Trump will put measures into effect today (08.03 .red) at dinner, then we have an entire arsenal response.” This includes oranges coming from the U.S., tobacco, and whiskey, besides technology products.
Germany holds a tight spot. Trade wars are of no benefit to anyone and are only losers. German Economy Minister Brigitte Zypree will not yet speak of a trade war between the EU and the US. “However, is the huge irritability”, it said Thursday for German television, ARD. A clear trade struggle, I think, is not if it affects a bit of the products that are on hand. But Mr. Trump can only repeat: Let it go.” Stress is the opinion that in such a case a complaint should be made to the World Trade Organization./DW
