Unionists say today they will sign KEKA Board's decision to raise salaries

The issue of salary increases for KEK workers was a trigger for the protest organised Thursday by the union's unionists.

After this protest, this new KEK trade union has warned a strike that will begin from Friday to this week, and thus, the production of electricity will be reduced within this strike, reports news.net.

The chairman of the new KEK union, Rafet Osmani, has told about the news.net that because of not reflecting this protest at the KEK management and government bodies, they have decided on organising a strike that will begin from February 16th, and which has the support of most KEK workers.

“We initially started with protests because of the failure to realise the promises government has given us, the prime minister with the Speaker of the Parliament, which the increase will take place at January's pay, this protest was great and passed without any efficacy respectively.

After the protest, which did not reflect on the management for salary growth, the next day we held the meeting with the new KEK-level union, from this council we came up with the decision to organise the strike level of the cake which begins on February 16,”

Osmani announced that following the decision to enter the strike, a meeting between the new union and the KEK board has been organised during which support of this board was confirmed for raising conform wages.

He said that wages have had to be raised even without their request and the government's promise, and because KEK workers have shown results, discipline and commitment in their work, so reviewing the budget line before making this decision is not reasonable because this is not happening for KEK management expenses, but only when it comes to raising wages for the workers of this corporation, the news reports.

After that decision, KEK's board, at the meeting on February 9th, invited us to a four-hour meeting, this meeting that lasted until six o'clock, where we participated with the union's deputy, and we discussed the promises of salary increases to the workers' conditions, and I repeat that the rise of wages is reasonable and that it would happen without the government's promise, and that, because of the results and labor of the cake, as well as their discipline. ” added Osmani

He made it known that he has received promises from Board Chief Faruk Hajrizi, who said that the KEK board has made a decision that these salaries will increase, a decision that will be signed by unionists during the day, but still is not known by which month the salary increase will be counted.

Osmani added that despite strong promises and signed decision, the strike will begin from Friday.

“Greva will not be promoted, because the workers' union has formed a new working class and they will decide on the General Council, the promise has been taken in time that the salaries of KEK workers will increase, I believe we will go on strike by Friday” Osmani concluded.
