Thousands of patients in Gjakova are endangered by lack of insulin

From Monday to Thursday this week after that, 70-year-old Feriz Ademi from Gjakova has visited the Main Family Medicine Centre in this municipality. He suffers from diabetes, and he has been carrying this disease in his body for ten years now. In recent months, however, it is not being regularly supplied with insulin. That is because since November last year in the Gjakova municipality there is a lack of insulin in public health institutions. While not even a syringe with insulin was sent to the main QKMF in Gjakova in February.

The 70-year-old says that last month he only took one franc, while five are needed for him to spend a full month.

I don't know why the supply was cut off. I know that we as patients are causing a lot of health problems. I've been coming to the Family Medicine Center for my insulin every day for a week, and I'm looking for it, but there's no”, he says.

Hall of the same 70-year-old has Mrs. S. Grazda from this municipality. She says that even in private drugs during these days insulin is hardly being found.
Too bad, because life depends on insulin. And the drugs that are on the essential list don't sell in drugs, that means we can't even buy that drug, because it doesn't find”, Grazda says.

The same luck as Ademi and Grezda patients have a thousand and 10 other patients in this municipality. All of them, for February, haven't taken a lighthouse with insulin on this QKMF. Only during the early hours of Thursday's noon, over 200 patients had visited this municipality, seeking medicine on the essential list of drugs.

Officials from this centre have told the Express on Thursday that they were not supplied with Insulina from the Health Ministry for February. QKMF Farmy Tech, Diana Mullatahiri, said the demand for this drug is enormous.

All day long patients are coming and asking about insulin. We're telling you there's no. It's not up to us to supply”, she said. It shows that the most used type of Insulin is Novomix”. Says most patients use this drug.

The Mulatahiri technique shows that for January this type of insulin has been supplied with only 900 fraconeciretes] insulin, a figure that is therefore not enough for half of the patients because a diabetes patient usually uses up to 5 such francs per month.

According to her, the average age of people using Insulin is between 50 and 60 years of age.

While 15 minors from this municipality are on their waiting list for insulin. Insulin isn't even in private drugs in this municipality. The type "Novomix" is hard to find, as the type of Rappidʹ insulin in private drugs is costing 14 euros, and this patients, most of them pensioners are forced to buy it on their own.

The Express newspaper has attempted to receive an answer from the Ministry of Health, an institution that is responsible for regular supplies of the essential list of insulin, but the same has not answered the newspaper's questions.
