Reaching the Egyptian capital last night, Tillerson dined with Choukri.
This morning, the two leaders of diplomacy held a closed-door meeting before making a brief press conference.
Tillerson will meet with President Abdel Fattah al-Sis.
During the press conference, Tillerson confirmed that Washington supported a transparent and reliable election process in Egypt, where presidential elections will be held on March 26th.
“We have always supported free and fair elections, not only in Egypt, but in any other country”, he answered a journalist who asked him about the credibility of Egyptian elections, where Sissy, the outgoing president is the only serious candidate.
