A Russian pilot who crashed from militia in Syria has thrown himself into the air with a bomb to escape capture, official Moscow reports, Klen Kosova follows.
First reported that flight pilot “Sukhoi Su-25” died of the shooting after it collapsed, but Russia's Defence Ministry clarified the case with a press statement Monday.
In dramatic footage, Air Force Major Roman Filippov, armed with only one handgun and one bomb, was delivered by militants before shouting “this is for our soldiers” in Russian and threw himself into the air.
Filippov will be honoured with Russia's “Hero” award, the Russian ministry's statement reports, writes the Kommersant newspaper.
