But, just minutes after the president's announcement was published, the media reported that the presidency's announcement was a list in which all mentioned were presented as decorated.

The report stated this way: “List of personalities decorated by President Thaci with the 10th Annual Medal of Independence”. After that sentence, all the names of the people, organizations, and media who had received decorations followed.

Thaci also rejected the decoration by Fatmir Limaj, who was once his right arm when both were part of the Democratic Party of Kosovo. Limaj, unlike others, had not made any public announcement of this refusal.

There were other rejections, which sometimes seemed to occur in a chain and were influenced by preliminary rejections.

Jakup Krasniqi, Bilall Sheriff, Agim Vinca, the family of Commander Drini, Radio Free Kosovo, are also some names and other subjects that refused to be decorated by Thaci.
