The court hearing at the Court of Appeals in the case of the Pristina gas tank explosion, which killed two people and several others were injured, has been postponed because indictees Muhamet Passhtica and Ahmet Frangu were absent.
During this session it has been scheduled to consider the defense side's complaints concerning the Constitutional Court's act of justice.
According to Qazim Qerim, a lawyer with authorisation of Muhamet Vershtica, his protected refusal to accept an invitation to be present in court review.
The lawyer also said that his client by phone told him he would appear at the Court as if he had been informed of holding the hearing and that he would like to be present at this review.
Later, the college consisting of three Court of Appeals judges decided that, in the absence of these two indictees, would postpone the session for another date so the presence of the two indictees would be ensured.
On March 15th 2008 in Pristina, a gas bomb that exploded as a pump was being supplied caused the death of Bekim Muharrem and Ishmael Sadik and the hurt of Naser Dragusha, Meriton Demiri and Aylew Abbade.
Nearly nine years after this explosion, the Constitutional Court in Pristina had convicted and sentenced the accused of this process, writes Kalxo.com.
Muhamet Backtica, company owner “M Gas Petrol”, whose supply exploded, has been sentenced to 4 years and 10 months in prison.
The butt in this judicial process was accused of causing general danger.
Faithful Sadiku, owner of the company “P- Gas”, whose autocisterna was supplying the pump when the explosion occurred, was sentenced to six months in prison.
Sadiku was also accused of causing general danger.
Ahmet Frangu has been sentenced to 1 year in prison. He was chief market inspector at the time of the explosion, while Nafije Osmani, market inspector, was sentenced to 6 months in prison.
Osmani's Frang was charged with misusing official duty, since it had enabled the company “M-Gas Petrol” and “P- Gas” to work without permission.
The next session will be held on March 9th.
