Dear citizens of the Republic of Kosovo,
The February 17th 2008 Declaration of Independence constitutes the largest achievement of the people of Kosovo after 100 years of widespread freedom efforts.
Kosovo's independence is the crowning of the hard-earned sacrifices and dedication of generations of Kosovo's people, articulated at the highest level during the population resistance led by the architect of Independence, Ibrahim RUGOVA, followed by the liberation war led by the Legendary Commander Adam JASAR.
The Republic of Kosovo is today a sovereign and independent state, recognised by 117 states and with clear integration prospects in the European family and NATO, as unalterable processes for Kosovo.
It is good news that Kosovo is already wrapping up the demarcation process with Montenegro in full compliance with the first, unjustly stalled agreement so far, for a controversial political cause.
The 10th anniversary of Independence is finding Kosovo with obvious achievements, but also stalled in certain ways. But, vitality, commitment, homeland love and the determination of the people of Kosovo are guarantees for a better future.
Special gratitude for what we have accomplished deserves our Euro-Atlantic partners, the US, EU countries and other friendly states, without whose support Kosovo would not be where it is today.
