Montenegro's National Security Council has decided on Friday to send military personnel to Kosovo, which will join NATO's mission, KFOR.
This council, consisting of Montenegro's prime minister, president and Speaker of the Parliament, has indicated that a formal proposal will be submitted to the Montenegrin Parliament, which by law in this state, has the final word on the distribution of troops on various missions.
“A military officer will join the NATO mission in Pristina, and another in the KFOR regional mission in Skopje” is said at a media conference attached to this decision.
Otherwise, this is the first time that Montenegro's military personnel will join any mission since NATO accession, Montenegro has officially recognised Kosovo's independence, but still have no bilateral relations with the newest state in Europe.
