KDI appeal to political parties for political consensus on ratification of demarcation

The Kosovo Democratic Institute has reacted through a communique over the failure of today's session, where the agreement on the state border was meant to be ratified between Kosovo and Montenegro. “Once again witnessed the lack of seriousness and dedication of political parties to reaching political consensus [...]
“Once again witnessed the lack of seriousness and dedication of political parties to reach political consensus that serves the interest of all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo”, the communique said.
The lack of this political consensus now and nearly three years, has not only left Kosovo citizens isolated and unable to move freely, but has also blocked the normal functioning of the country's institutions.
The Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) estimates that the demarcation issue is exhausted as the topic, and now is the last time to take concrete steps in ratifying this agreement. Therefore, the KDI appeals to all parliamentary political parties for reaching a general consensus and resolving this node that is holding citizens of the Republic of Kosovo hostage. Pro-demarcing vote is pro-free movement and Kosovo's further journey towards the EU, especially now when, according to ʹTransparency InternationalOur country has noted progress in fighting corruption and ranks better than many other countries already enjoying visa liberalisation. KDI called on Kosovo Parliament deputies to show greater determination and commitment to close the issue of border demarcation with Montenegro. KDI considers that the Republic of Kosovo has available legal mechanisms to renegotiate with Montenegro for any eventual improvement of the agreement, if it is considered that mistakes have been made in this direction. Therefore, any further delay in ratification of the demarcation will affect the isolation of citizens, and will also spread out the inability of the Kosovo political scene to make big decisions.
