Integrations: Blerta Deliu tells her associate, Minister Hoxha, she doesn't believe her proposal works

European Integration Minister Gift Hoxha has called for national political consensus for Kosovo's European integration.

It has proposed the adoption of a resolution that would reconfirm the commitment of all institutions and political spectrum for European integrations.

Speaking of the strategy, Hoxha said none of the Western Balkan countries have been officially introduced to the draft, until it has commented more, since it has not yet been officially published.

“I want to propose a resolution on both the Government and the Parliament to reconfirm the national consensus of all institutions, the political class as far as the European integration process is concerned and to find a common language that would enable us as a government, as an institution that we are engaged in the process of European integration to move forward and take the step, because 2018 is very important in the process of integration”, she said.

However, Minister Hoxha has mentioned two issues that are indirectly related to the strategy, which according to her, are visa liberalisation, which is a priority that goes beyond the Strategy, as it doesn't make much sense to talk about other processes when such a basic thing has not been enabled to Kosovo citizens, as well as tangible results, in judicial, economic growth and better education.

Hoxha has voiced confidence that the year 2018 should be a year of visa liberalisation for Kosovo citizens if they manage to carry out their duties as Kosovo institutions, such as the demarcation.

“Viti 2018 said it must be a year of visa liberalisation, I didn't say that by chance. Why should it be 2018... because the year 2018 for the first time speaks of a clarified language about the perspective of the Western Balkans. And also, 2018 there are a number of cases that if we manage to carry out our homework then the EU also has to keep up with the part of the agreement, which is visa liberalisation”, she said.

However, the commission members had remarks and expressed scepticism if the resolution would produce something.

Commission Chairman Blerta Deliu-Codra stressed that even in the past there have been such resolutions, but that they have not brought concrete results.

I'm a little skeptical that such a resolution would produce something effective. In the past the Foreign Policy Commission has proposed such a resolution, we have reconfirmed a kind of declarative credibility against the EU that we have consensus, but it has not produced something”, Deliu-Codra said. /Periscope.
