Before applying for EU membership candidate country status, Kosovo, according to the head of the EU Office in Kosovo, Natalia Apostolova, must make an assessment of the reality, Koha Ditore writes today.
In this context it has cited the fact that five EU states have not yet recognised Kosovo, as well as reforms that, according to it, Kosovo must do in the area of rule of law, the fight against corruption and organised crime, as well as reform in public administration.
These comments have been made in the discussion organised under the “Four 2015<18x1> project, by the Kosovar Foundation for Open Society, held in the case of the publication of analysis “The new EU enlargement moment, what Kosovo” can benefit journalists Augustin Panochaj and Croatia Tuhina. As a conclusion to the analysis of two journalists reporting from Brussels, it has emerged that following the uncertainty of Kosovo's European future presented in the EU enlargement strategy, Kosovo must apply to obtain EU membership candidate status.
