Slovenian national education workers massively suspended their jobs today by paralyzing the education system and protesting salary increases, following budget cuts, according to local media.
This is the fourth wave of strikes organised within a month in the country's public sector, which has marked a significant growth (4.9% forecasted by 2017 from O. CDE), after experiencing a deep recession in 2012 and 2013 due to difficulties in its banking sector.
The suspension of staff work led to the closure of 95% of institutions in the education sector, from nests to universities, according to the main union (SVIZ).
“State does not rightly assess our work, we are paid much less than other professions”, said Branimir Strukelj, head of the central union of protesters gathered in central Ljubljana.
