Donika Gervala resigns from LDK, that's why

In a long scripture titled “The bitter truths of the LDK”, says this political subject has degenerated and the process of degeneration of LDK was initiated by then-President Sejdiu and sealed by his successor Isa Mustafa.

It considers that “Linking“, there is nothing more in common with the Democratic League of Kosovo. Says everyone has abandoned former President Ibrahim Rugova, including his children.

After President Rugova LDK's death, it has progressively degenerated step by step, and in the meantime it is only left for us to claim its own death”, Gervalla says.

When playing the political party, in this case the LDK, conflicts with the loyalty to Kosovo and the interests of its citizens, then it is time to talk about bitter truths and make difficult decisions.

The sadest truth is that today's LDK, the so-called „livea“, no longer has anything in common with the Democratic League of Kosovo, the party which led Albanians on their way to freedom and independence. The name still has the LDK, but inside it is empty. No content, no principles, no faith, no concepts.

In today's LDK leader, all have abandoned President Rugova, who do not hesitate to mention him whenever he gets to him. Even his children. “Linking” has abandoned the principles under which the Democratic League of Kosovo was built, violated the pledge and killed the hope, which this party once gave to Albanians in Kosovo.

The other sad truth is that today's LDK, or the so-called „login“, is not reformable. Over the past few years with great persistence and no regard for the situations I've faced, along with many other activists, we have made numerous efforts to avoid moving the LDK towards the edge of the cliff. We've talked to citizens on all sides of Kosovo and made serious efforts at a healthy LDK reform, but we've encountered concrete structures, political leaders, who all day long speak empty words. We've run into masks that don't say what they think and that they often don't even understand what they say, because they repeat in empty phrases stolen somewhere. In profits that even with the devil make the crust, only to take advantage of even more of the world's newest and poorest country in Europe.

Personally, it's not easy for me to accept the bitter truth, to admit that after President Rugova LDK's death, he has progressively degenerated and in the meantime, we only have to prove her death. This process of degeneration of the LDK was initiated by then-President Sejdiu and sealed by his successor, Isa Mustafa. Instead of protecting the interests of the citizens and the principles of the LDK, these two LDK heads began competing over who more and who sooner submits to criminal structures, which handed the fate of the country and the citizens of Kosovo.

Are the other parties in Kosovo better? No, not at all. They damage Kosovo daily more than the LDK. But these political parties and their corrupt representatives do not become the state. All political parties in Kosovo lack domestic democracy, genuine free elections and interest in a broader involvement in resolving existential problems for the country. A new move is needed to save the country. With these political parties we have, the future will be dark.

In her friends, Kosovo has lost much of the respect and trust it has enjoyed. But even worse is that its citizens have lost confidence in the government and the country's politics. Too large is the number of politicians who care nothing about their country and its citizens, but only their clientele and personal benefits.

P SE I'm looking at LDK, which is 27 years old.

In 1991, by joining the Democratic League of Kosovo, I became part of the major political battle for freedom, independence and democracy for Kosovo. As a new student, since the Yugoslav regime had stopped my return to my homeland, my activity for Kosovo has been exercised in Germany, among other things as LDK deputy chairman in Germany, her spokespersons during the war years, through regular and numerous talks in the German parliament and government, through my presence in organisations and numerous German and Albanian media newspapers in Germany as well. Our goal was clear as our tears: Freedom-independence-Democracy for Kosovo. In this dignified battle of Albanians, ranging from ordinary people in villages and towns to President Rugova, in Kosovo and in exile, we enjoyed respect and gained the trust and support of the civilized world.

Kosovo's freedom and independence reached and we are now risking it again. Neither the ruling coalition of the „commanders“nor the opposition of ideologists, but neither the opportunists and the payers of LDK intend to stand up to our fragile state. They do not intend to save the country because they are busy with themselves, their schemes, and their financial benefits.

This is not the goal that I have been committed to since 1991 in the Democratic League of Kosovo, not even counting on the few personal risks that I have faced not only I, but a large number of LDK activists, some of whom even pay life for the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo. It's a huge number of those who, despite the wide threat, have tried to avoid the suicide of LDK. But characters at the top of „Linking“are not interested in any reforms in the LDK. They want to protect only their profits, even at the expense of the existence of the LDK.

Whoever claims that an organisation or party is developing badly should do his best to stop this development. But who sees that despite much effort, this development does not stop, then necessary decisions must be made.

In the LDK it is now impossible to work with honour and dignity for Kosovo's progress. Last hope is dead. Who believes in changes to this LDK risks deceiving itself.

Whoever wants to do something for Kosovo, this one for once has to do it outside political party cartels and their profiterators.

So our ways, as well as many others before me, are divided today. My membership in LDK ends with today.

My path and my attitude remain unchanged. It is our goals and attitudes that made us strong and brought us the respect of our citizens and the faith of our international partners. On this basis I will continue my work in Kosovo and abroad for democracy and the release of Kosovo from its criminal and corrupt cases.

There remains deep respect for the thousands of activists, who in Kosovo and in the charge of much work and dedication, never gave in to countless challenges, and before they thought of themselves and worked for Kosovo and its future.

I'm asking the families of SHIK victims for the fact that we didn't make it all these years, even though the LDK was in power for years, to do nothing to whiteen political murders and bring criminals to justice.

For all of us in Kosovo it is: the truth is bitter and the times are difficult. However, there is no reason to make a statement. Kosovo has been through even more difficult times. We have come to gain freedom and come off victorious in even worse situations. Once again we will succeed if respect for each other and honorable devotion and dignity are brought before compromises with corruption and crime.

It takes courage and time. The changes do not come naturally, much less from above. A new spirit is needed. Otherwise, we will return to the passive spectators of the sinking of our new, fragile state, while radicals and criminals, who are destroying our country, are strengthening every day.

It takes a new spirit and alienation from old structures. Old structures don't last: corrupt, criminalised, without credibility among citizens and political partners. It is time for all of us to open a new chapter for Kosovo together.

Our common path and our efforts do not end here.
