Austrian Vice-Christian Strache arrives today for talks in Belgrade, amid the storm of reactions that prompted a quote for Kosovo this weekend.
The Serbian pro-government newspaper “Politika” claimed Strache has indicated that “Kosovo is definitely part of Serbia”.
The declaration conflicts with Austria's until now policy -- one of the first states to have recognised Kosovo -- has caused major debates both abroad and within Austrian borders.
conservative party member “ ♫VP”, Othmar Karas reacted angrily after news of the interview, naming this “a new attack against Balkan peace order”, which shocks and leaves it speechless.
Claudia Gamon, of the new liberals, also spoke with critical tones according to the German news agency DPA.
“Vice-Kancelari and his party do not give up their fuses in the Balkans”, was her comment.
While Austria's Paneuvian Movement emphasises that it has followed <x0 with strong head shake” Strache's sayings, which <x2-2, have escaped recent developments in the Balkans”.
But so far, it has not been talked about an audio recording of the interview, and Straches' own spokesman, Martin Glier, claims the vice-kancellari has not given this interview. The created situation forced Austria's Embassy in Kosovo to react via Twitter and ensure there is no change in Vienna's stance on Kosovo.
But over the weekend, Serbian media claimed there are attempts to return Kosovo's recognition of independence from Chechia, but the Kosovo Foreign Ministry insists information on attracting recognitions is propaganda of Serbia.
