Apart from the demarcation, Kosovo is working to meet other criteria for visa liberalisation

Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri says confident that citizens will see changes to the justice system. He says the justice system has achieved enough in the first decade of the state of Kosovo, though there is still room for empowering it. In an interview for Kosovo Press, Tahiri said that in the second decade of Kosovo's independence, it would be empowering the justice system in the country.
According to him, the second decade will even empower rule of law, the country's economy, education. Tahiri has also mentioned the challenges and impasses the justice system has experienced since 2008.
Among the major achievements of the justice system for ten years of independence, Tahiri stresses the scope of the judiciary in the north.
He cites the founding of the Constitutional Court in Mitrovica, where, according to Tahiri, the address of citizens living in that part will be Kosovo courts.
Minister Tahiri says his priority is to issue legislation and strengthen the judiciary in fighting crime and corruption.
He says he will do so through the change of the Kosovo Criminal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure, the law for the chief prosecutor and the law for the Anti-Corruption Agency.
Speaking of the Criminal Procedure Code, Tahiri said he is working intensively on meeting his change, until the deadline has given the end of March to complete the changes. However, he is willing to extend the deadline if asked by the processing group.
Tahiri also finds it necessary to change the law on the Anti-Corruption Agency without violating its independence. He says he has also proposed the removal of a large number of officials for property statements, such as municipal assembly as the Asamps.
“cannot be considered the same as an MP or minister, or an asmblastist of the municipal assembly, any municipal assembly that he is. The focus should be on Government, Parliament, the judiciary, the prosecutor, and not on levels that are powerless, and the possibility of corrupt relatives occurring is small”, Tahiri said.
The justice minister has also talked about the criteria dealing with visa liberalisation, which he says are on a good track in meeting all requirements.
While, about the strategy published weeks ago by the European Commission for Western Balkan countries, Tahiri said that the very issues that are envisioned there are envisioned in the functional revision of the justice system.
When he spoke of the situation in prisons, the minister of justice said they are much better than in the countries of the region. As far as shortcomings are concerned, it says that there are no conditions to blame for the directors of the Correct Service. To further raise the security level and prison conditions, Tahiri said they have announced the competition for 70 correctional officers, until in the second half of the year a competition for another 70 will be released, thus raising to 140 the number of new correctional officers to be employed.
While commenting on completion of mandate from Mission EULEX, Minister Tahiri has said they are willing to take all competencies into their hands.
And when asked about the initiative to undo specialised rooms, Tahiri said he would continue to work on the basis of laws in force, constitutional changes in 2015, and the law on specialised rooms.
Tahiri once again has strongly rejected the adoption of two recommendations from the Kosovo Assembly following a debate on condemning activists of the Vetevendosje Movement.
Minister Tahiri has declined to comment on reporting on the counterfeiting of the jurisdictional exam by chief prosecutor Alexander Lumezi, saying he will work with them on the basis of their functions but will not comment on these reports.
