Austria's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karin Kneissl, has distanced himself from Austria's deputykanceari statement, Heinz-Christian Strache, who today declared Kosovo is part of Serbia.
Strache even said Serbs living in the northern part of Kosovo have the right to self-rule or autonomy, but that this would require long negotiations, and that Kosovo, according to him, is ruthless.
“Kosovo is obviously part of Serbia”, Austria's deputy commander has said.
Meanwhile, in an interview for the Die Presse medium, Elisabeth Hechenleiter, the spokeswoman for the chief diplomat Kneissl, has rejected the Austrian deputy cavalari's statement.
Austria's Foreign Ministry has called these Strach statements reckless.
Kosovo's “Name as an independent state from Austria is an irrefutable fact”, said Minister Karin Kneissl's spokeswoman. “and this recognition cannot be modified”.
