After six months of negotiations at the time between the Kosovo and the Serbian sides in Vienna, Austria, according to him it was obvious that neither side would change its fundamental position and it was impossible to reach an acceptable solution for the parties.

Ten years after Kosovo has declared independence Albert Rohan is convinced that the Ahtisaari Plan was a fair compromise proposal through which, he says, the two sides would benefit: Kosovo its independence, while Serbia is the security and protection of the Serb community in Kosovo.
