Tahiri: 2019çta, year of seizure of property and destruction of criminal groups

In an interview for Online Economy, Tahiri said that progression of laws in the justice system has been made, and as soon as it takes effect, judges and prosecutors will have instruments for fighting illegally acquired corruption and property.

“I believe that next year will be more powerful in fighting these phenomena because capacities within the judiciary, the prosecutor, have been established, we have advanced the laws. I think it'll be my priority to seize property that was acquired illegally”.

The moment it takes effect behind the official newspaper because it is a matter of days, and prosecutors and judges have instruments to act on implementing these laws. The year 2019 will be the year that we will show even greater successes in confiscating illegal property, in destroying crime groups, which have been charged with the tribute of the hawk”, Tahiri said.

Tahiri adds that it has been met, the last condition for visa liberalisation, which is fighting organised crime and corruption. According to him, there is an escort mechanism where cases targeted for liberalisation are located.

As for the U.S. Ambassador Philip Costnet's statement that laws are not enough to fight corruption, but action is needed, in line with these statements is Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri.

He claims it was also his concern that corruption and organised crime have not been fought in Kosovo satisfactoryly.

If it weren't for concern and concern, an inefficient fight for corruption, I wouldn't have taken initiatives to change these laws for fighting corruption. It has been my assessment that the RKS needs to take steps in all possible components to empower the fight against crime and corruption”, Tahiri told EO.

As minister, I am responsible for drafting policies linked to fighting organised crime and corruption, and these have been like initiatives of an insufficient fight against organised crime and corruption”, he claimed.

As for Vettingu, the head of justice in Kosovo, said the country is in a process of functional revision and strategy on how verification of the integrity of judges' work can be made.

Tahiri says he is not a supporter of copying countries in the region, as is the case with Albania.

We are in a process that is functional revision and the strategy for this revision will be in June or July 2019, and this process will determine the way to verify the integrity of judges' work and whether there will be permanent mechanisms that will make such a verification or enter a process as it is happening in the Albanian state. I am not a supporter to copy the states of the region, but we have other needs, because if we enter this process, attention will be taken away from fighting organised crime and corruption”, Tahiri said.

As for Specialised Chambers of the Special Court, Tahiri claims that as minister, there is no information about the invitations of former KLA members and special operations.

The Republic of Kosovo has carried out a special charge, which is the Court's case. As a political person, they are not accountable for their work”, said Minister Tahiri.

As part of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Tahiri has also commented on the opposition's request that the country go to early elections.

He said he has no serious initiative to oust the government by the opposition, until he is convinced that the country will not go to early elections.

“There is no serious initiative by the opposition for motion, these parties are aiming to keep their electorate alive, they are doing it but are not ready for elections, we have many processes ahead of”.

“The PDK has been a powerful supporter of dialogue and reaching an agreement with Serbia and will not allow sovereignty violations, and we are determined not to allow association to have executive competency”, Tahiri said.

The situation in the north, Tahiri called it normal, suggesting that courts in that section are operating without problems, except on days when Serb protests were organised, which led to Tahiri's having a two-hour pause in the courts.
