President Jahjaga seeks justice for victims of sexual violence

The Kosovo Lawyers' Oda (OAK) has held the signing ceremony of “The Lawyer's Court”, with the OAK chairman, Sylejman Havoli, said the lawyer is the link to justice. Havol has guaranteed that lawyers will exercise office professionally with standards and on international conventions.
Kosovo's “Avokatia dates back to World War II when the first Sokol Dobroshi lawyer was registered. The road was not easy, their unspoiled work will serve to move forward”.
We have “910 lawyers exercising their role in seven regions. 2235 interns have gone to our offices. The lawyer is a link to the importance of justice”, Havolli said, in marking the 45th anniversary of the Law Day.
I guarantee that lawyers will exercise office professionally with standards and according to international conventions”.
Former President Atifete Jahjaga said that at the time when lawyers are facing prejudice we should remember that this is a profession that carries responsibility.
“As defense of the Constitution you have the burden on you to create a Kosovo with justice and otherwise. You have to remind yourself of this mission, you have to remind yourself of the vow that they would exercise their profession by law and honor by respecting the Constitution and the laws in the country. Many of you can count many hours to work for many people from the right to a lawyer”, she said, Online Economics reported.
Jahjaga has thus sought justice for victims of sexual violence during the war.
In her view, the hope that criminals will be brought to justice has not failed survivors.
Although it claims that Kosovo cannot sue Serbia for the genocide committed, it requires that data be collected because many of the survivors are no longer alive.
“The hope of righteousness made me work to believe in righteousness. Many victims of sexual violence during the war found no justice in men and women. These survivors have not lost hope that criminals will be brought to justice”.
They need our help to win justice. Because of legal restrictions, not being part of any international court, we are unable to sue Serbia for genocide, this does not mean we should wait”.
“The time factor has badly influenced data collection, many of them are not among us. We've been late to join forces in supporting the legal support of these victims, in their very subliable request, the one for justice. I'm so glad Oda has joined this”
Enver Peci, chairman of the Supreme Court, has thanked Oda for his cooperation. According to him, building a justice system with European standards is a duty of all.
“also needs to be strengthened, even though done. We're focused on punishment policies. We've issued a series of important documents”.
Kosovo Judiciary Council Chief ( KDP), Nehat Idrizi, said that with Oda they have co-operation and agreements on issues linking these institutions.
Idrizi has added that 155 judges will start working in the courts in the country, and with that, there can be no complaints about procrastinating the selection of subjects.
“We've complained that we don't have a number of judges, the parties pressure you, the sessions are postponed for no reason sometimes even you're not easy because the parties demand that the subjects be solved in reasonable times”.
“We have incriminating north as well, 39 judges have been executed. 52 judges started working. 37 judges are submitted to the president's decree, it's a matter of times”.
“We have announced a contest for 27 judges. 155 new ones will start work. Now we're going to get rid of the complaint that we don't have judges. We had 400 grand courses in all courts. Now we've got 265,000 materials, we've reduced this number. The subjects will no longer wait in court”.
We've seen that there are differences. Punishments should be in line with criminal work”.
Ervin Pupe, from Albania's Chamber of Lawyers, has guaranteed support for the Kosovo Lawyer's Oda, even having some recommendations for Kosovo colleagues.
You've made progress, even though you've had difficult and historical and political conditions. I'm citing some of the challenges you've started, and you're on your way to achieving independence institutions, you're fighting to win, increased professionalism, legal initiatives”.
“Regional, international integration is one of the challenges you should have as Ode”.
The oath ceremony of 24 new lawyers, who were also certified, has also been held.
